My Three Gardens
July 3rd 2010
By: Susan Y Nikitenko
I hope your day was spent glorifying our Lord and Savior. Once again I come to speak to you of three gardens. The garden of our life, The garden of our heart , and the garden in our yard. This week has been filled with treasures from God's treasure box. The treasure box of life. So many little treasures to be enjoyed. Now there are many things in life that seem not to be a treasure, but God is working through things yet not seen. Last Sunday a young woman wrecked outside our house. She didn't seem to be injured but I understood how she was feeling. I wanted to comfort her and show her the love of Christ. So I cut her some daisies from my garden and I told her I would pray for her. The young woman hugged me. I walked away with hope and prayer in my heart that in some way, God would speak to her and bless her. Two of my yard gardens were damaged and our mailbox was destroyed. My heart garden was wounded.... The heart shaped garden in my yard that is.....I was thinking yesterday while I was planting in my garden, about the sacrifice that was made for our country. When I saw the purple in my heart, I thought of the many heroes that suffered and died for freedom. Many died for the religious freedoms of this country, Many died for the protection of values and ideas that were important to remain a strong thriving nation under God. I will not pretend to be this big patriotic know it all. I'm really just starting to understand it more. I guess my eyes are being opened and I'm seeing things a little clearer now.
I looked up at our flag as it waved in the wind, thinking how worn it looks. I thought of the songs that were written about our country and wondered... do those songs stand true today or have we as Americans grown cold to caring? Do we love family, freedom, and purity. This country has grown tired and worn. It needs to return to purity, It needs to return to family values, It needs to return to Christ.
This past week four Easter lilies bloomed in my garden. I felt overjoyed because it stands for purity. A US soldier is credited for bringing the Easter Lillie to American soil. The Easter lilies also stands for sacrifice. Blood was shed.... It was shed for our country. It also stand for the sacrifice of Jesus. The spotless lamb of God shed His blood for you....He arose for you....He is the answer...for you, for me and for country.
I could hear the booms and bangs of freedoms celebration just outside our house, while I thought upon these things and prayed for this country to return to Christ. I prayed that this country would return to the values so many people died to gain and maintain. How many soldiers will it take to restore America? A whole lot of Christian soldiers on their knees humbly crying out to God to restore Godly values and ideas. Now anyone who is a child of God is in a battle, a spiritual one. I realize sometimes we have to go out and fight as a nation, but sometimes our greatest enemies are ourselves. God promises judgment on a nation that ignores His warnings. God hates sin. He hates abortion, He hates homosexuality. He hates adultery and fornication. Now, I'm not claiming to be perfect, I've never been perfect and if anyone ever said I was perfect they were mistaken. I'm a sinner, but I do not want to live a sinful life. A sinful life is poison to a soul, A sinful life is poison to a family, and sinful lives are poison to a country. I had to learn these things along the way. The truth is... we are all sinners and deserve nothing. When I see the scarlet colored flowers in my gardens I think of this beautiful verse.... Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
He promises to restore a sick nation under certain conditions in 2 Chronicles 7:14. " If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."
I remember everyone crying change during the 2008 Election year. Well lets show the world a change of heart. You know what !......Let's have a whole lot of prayin, goin' on! And a whole lot of cryin' over sin! goin' on. And a whole heap of changin' for the better. A changed mind, A change of direction, A change that just keeps on getting better. Let's march to the beat of God's heart. Going His direction....Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, With all thy mind, With all thy might.
Someone asked me, Do you have vegetables in your garden? and I told them, about the Alum that blooms in my gardens, Now I've been told that Alum are also called leeks, a kind of onion
The Alum reminds me of the Children of Israel.... God had delivered the children of Israel from the slavery of Egypt. He supplied them with a daily supply of manna....But yet they complained after a time because they lusted after the leeks ... They said in Numbers 11:5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic:
God sent down fire to consume them for their complaining. He hates complaining but He loves praising.
Moses' prayers quenched the fire. One man's prayers quenched God's anger. I don't know about you - but I think we better straighten up and get thankful, cause if there's any kind of fire burnin' I pray it's revival.
Here's a little poem I wrote, it's a prayer to God Almighty, for revival
Let Your Fires Flow
By: Susan y Nikitenko
Let Your Fires Flow
Oh Lord, My Lord I pray
To send it now today
Flowing down, all around
Send it now I pray
Let your revival burn;
Set our hearts aglow.
Spread the burning round;
Let your fires flow.
With flaming lives of love;
Let others feel its heat.
And when they see your shine;
Let their lives repeat.
Let them watch in awe;
Your blaze across the land.
And know it’s of your grace;
And by your loving hand.
Burn into our hearts;
Your power and your will.
Burn into our children;
To love you and to yield.
Oh, let your fire change us;
To love with all our might.
Let us shine for Jesus;
Like a fire in the night.
Oh Lord, My Lord I pray
To send it now today
Flowing down, all around Send it now I pray
As I continue to talk about gardens, I'm sad to tell you.... I've had some failures in my gardening abilities. Things have died in my garden, things have been attacked in my garden, Just as In life we have death, we have failures, troubles and struggles.
But in the same breath as I think of Christ, there are blessings, and treasures that are more valuable than any earthly treasure. Because I do believe ....Romans 8: 28. And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
. Today I thought about the many soldiers that have not forgiven themselves for war time decisions. So many regrets and memories that haunt. Jesus heals those wounded hearts too. Forgiveness frees a heart bound by agony and despair. One must forgive lest He destroy himself and makes victims of his own family.
And like the dead bulbs of winter lay dorment and arise in spring.....You can arise to the freedoms of forgiveness and new life in Christ. Simply by taking God at His WORD. Asking Christ to come dwell within you. Then give yourself to Him by obeying His Word.
I also thought of our suffering soldiers out on the line of duty, I thought of our wounded and their hurting families. When I look upon the yellow coreopsis flowers in my gardens I think of them as little yellow ribbons made with God's hands. So if you're a soldier and you happen to see my gardens. Know this! I pray for you and so does my family.
Jesus loves you.... He longs to heal your heart from all it's wounds, He died that you may live, He suffered that you could be forgiven. God Bless you friends and God Bless America.
